Abstract

The question of the evangelization of America is a topic that goes beyond the field of history specialists. It is a crucial issue for American societies today, and also for Guatemalan society. Knowing how the message of Christianity reached our lands is important, since the Catholic faith was the one that brought together virtually all sectors of American societies. Of course not everything was rosy, but there is also much that can be rescued and, above all, to know. Ignorance is the great enemy of human progress and is what, on occasions, has led to misinterpretations and extremist judgments.
