Abstract

Scarcity is not merely an economic category but an ontological condition that structures human experience within the cosmos. Wherever limitation exists, the necessity to act arises—and in that action, freedom is revealed. The Austrian School of Economics, represented by Ludwig von Mises, Friedrich Hayek, Israel Kirzner, Jesús Huerta de Soto, and Peter Boettke, provides the theoretical foundation to understand how entrepreneurship transforms scarcity into discovery and coordination. Beyond economics, this essay argues that scarcity belongs to the very structure of human existence: without limitation, there would be neither choice nor creativity. Entrepreneurship thus becomes the privileged means by which the human being translates ontological limitation into human progress. Inspired by the scientific clarity of Carl Sagan and the enlightened optimism of Steven Pinker, the paper contends that in a universe governed by entropy, human freedom creates islands of order and cooperation. Far from being a defect to be overcome, scarcity is the fertile ground upon which civilization flourishes.

Pablo Alejandro Galindo Asensio, Director de Gea Capital

Empresario, inversionista y educador guatemalteco. Inició su trayectoria como emprendedor con una plataforma de juegos cognitivos utilizada, actualmente, por más de cien millones de personas a nivel mundial. Actualmente es director de Gea Capital, donde lidera las divisiones de Venture Capital, Private Equity y Capital Markets. También es cofundador y General Manager de Barrilete Ventures, el primer fideicomiso de inversión ángel en Latinoamérica, enfocado inicialmente en Guatemala. Además, es fundador y CEO de Advanced Management School, Lead Teacher del ActonMBA in Entrepreneurship en la Universidad Francisco Marroquín y vicepresidente del Board of Directors del Instituto Guatemalteco Americano (IGA).

Es graduado de la Universidad Francisco Marroquín, con estudios de educación superior en Harvard University y formación ejecutiva en Harvard Business School. Su trabajo integra inversión privada, educación empresarial y construcción de plataformas para impulsar el crecimiento de emprendedores y empresas en la región.
