Abstract

Pope Francis condemns the throw-away culture in his environmental encyclical, Laudato Si’. This article explores the differences between discarding things and discarding people. Free and intelligent human beings are capable of finding solutions for the efficient management of solid waste. Their ties to God will enable them to, likewise, form healthy and united homes where each member of the family can flourish. Care for both material things and people will benefit the community
