Abstract

In this paper I offer a synthetic outlook of the biblical anthropology according to the threefold meaning of the Latin term colere, which is at
the root of our notion of culture. In fact, the Holy Scripture presents human
being as called to worship God, to cultivate him/herself (in his/her personal
and social dimension), and to cultivate the earth. This shows the greatness
and dignity of humankind, as it participates in a special way in the creative
and provident power of God.
