Abstract

When Martin Luther King delivered his famous "I have a dream" speech, he did not assert the rights of an African-American "collective" against another white "collective." He affirmed the rights of every individual, citing the Declaration of Independence, whether white, African-American or whatever. That is the point.

"In a little while, "being Catholic" will simply be a crime, as it already is in many totalitarian nations of the world."

"Judeo-Christianity implied another tradition that was a little less unintelligible, more apt for public debate. That tradition is that of individual freedoms: the freedoms of expression, of education, and of religion, expressed in the context of a rule of law such as gave in the American constitution, especially in its first amendment".

This book analyzes in a synthetic and rigorous way, the challenges facing the Western tradition in the face of the rise of the defense of groups that struggle to prioritize recognition against the rest of the people.
