Abstract

Canadian psychologist and author Jordan Peterson gained international fame for refusing to use new, supposedly gender-neutral language. Faced with the use of coercion to impose ideological agendas, there are two possible reactions, Peterson told the BBC: “One is the silent slavery that this will generate, and the other is an open conflict. Freedom of expression is not just another value. It is the basis of Western civilization” (Murphy, 2016).
