Abstract

The question of one's own identity must necessarily be confronted with the question of origin and, throughout history, this question has been answered by alluding to religion. It has been mainly in recent centuries that this question has been attempted to be dismissed on the basis of the idea of a progressive history that supposedly naturally relegated religion to the place of myths and legends.
